Daffy's

They're finally heralding spring!

I actually brought some in last night because the temps are getting down in the 20's and I'm afraid they may get frostbite!!

New airplane at Siler City Airport

Our friend Ed just flew his new Kodiak turboprop plane home from Phoenix. He'll be putting it to work as part of his "stable" of airplanes.

Ahhh, that new airplane smell. Don't get to experience that often (like, never!)

Towing it to it's new home - the big hangar in the background.

Daffy's

My daffodil's just refuse to bloom.  It's like they're Punxsutawney Phil saying there is going to be 6 more weeks of winter.

They've looked like this for weeks now, just teasing me with their yellow deliciousness!

Oysters!

I know my sis won't appreciate the goody-goodness of the oysters....

But we all did!  (Duane is allergic, so he didn't partake!)

Robert called Monday night and said that he had brought back a whole bunch of oysters from a weekend Myrtle Beach trip.  Did I want to share them?

Of course!

He brought about 2 pecks in a burlap sack!  That's alot of oysters!!!!  Hosed them off on the deck.  Ready for the steamer!

All the fixin's ready to go!

Add friends - and good "shuckers"!!  Robert and Pat did a fabulous job!

All done!

And there was even some leftovers!!  Like I said, ALOT of oysters!  Thanks Robert!

Snow!!!

Not sure what I was thinking this morning....yes, I heard all the forecasts. Was even watching the radar. Went to Asheboro Airport to do some paperwork. All of a sudden, it was snowing and immediately the parking lot was covered. This is not the usual "southern snow"....usually, it starts snowing and you have an hour or two of melting snow before you have to worry. But, the ground apparently was already cold and I decided I'd better skedaddle! Apparently, all 100,000 Asheboro residents were on the road too....

An hour later, at about 30 mph, I was free of most traffic near home.  Roads really slick - the "brine" they put down appeared to do nothing at all.   This is the 4-lane US 64.

Took 2 hours to drive the 40+ miles.  Home safe!

Snowing again

I guess this is really a whiny weather blog....forecast is for 3 days of yuck.  Snow, freezing rain, sleet - but not enough to even be pretty.  Just hit-and-miss around the area.  Just enough to be a real pain and nobody will fly at all.  Hard to see but there is snow falling at the airport today!

Spring! Well, no, not really!

My daffy's are fooled! We've got a little snow in the forecast. Rid-dic-u-lous! A little progress on the Avion!

Avion Travel Trailer

We're now the proud (or maybe crazy) owners of an aluminum travel trailer.....

I'll keep from boring you with refurbishment info here.....although it will probably be mentioned here sometimes.

Check my out new blog - Project Avion.  I'll probably just post new items there on a sporadic basis.
